SUNDAY MORNING WORSHIP SCHEDULE
9:00 A.M. - WORSHIP SERVICE
The following Classes/Worship are offered during this hour for nursery, preschool, elementary children and adults.
Title: Called for a Purpose
Location: Room 201
Synopsis: Why was I born? And what is the meaning of life, anyway? Can my longings ever be fulfilled, or am I caught in a trap of hopelessness? The letters of Peter and Jude were written to first-century Christians who were suffering great persecution. They were tempted to give in to despair because of the crushing traps they faced. Peter wrote words of comfort, and hope, reminding believers of their great calling and purpose. If you are serious about knowing God's purpose for your life these letters will comfort and challenge you.
Who would like this class: All ages.
Teacher Bio: Del Stanley - Member and Elder of Faith Church
Title: Discovery Class
Location: Room 203 (Begins Sunday, September 19 and meets for 8 weeks)
Synopsis: This class is signed to provide new attendees of Faith Church
- An overview of our theology
- History of the Christian Church, our church, and the EPC denomination
- Essentials of our faith
- The Sacraments
- An overview of our ministries
- Opportunities for involvement
Application: Following completion of this class, you can choose to become members of Faith Church.
Who would like this class: Anyone wishing to lean more about out church and out beliefs, especially with a view of becoming a member. This is primarily designed for new attendees to Faith Church.
Teacher Bio: Each section is led by a current Elder of Faith Church. Jeff Ring and Bob Zeeb will be your hosts for the class.
10:30 A.M. - WORSHIP SERVICE
The following Classes are offered during this hour for nursery, preschool, elementary children, teens and adults.
Title: Families of Faith
Location: Room 201
Synopsis: Amazon.com currently lists 30,536 book titles under "parenting." If there is one word that describes parenting in today's America, that word is "confused." But take heart Christian parent... the Bible incorporates God's way for parenting and the Word of God is not confused; plus it is living and active! And the other good news is it's just one book and you already have it! We encourage our class participants to always put worshiping the Lord first by attending the 9AM worship service, then come and see what the Lord has for you in our class. Your children will also be doubly blessed in attending both Sunday School hours.
Teacher Bios: "Families of Faith" is being led by a team of experienced parents: Bill and Gail Ballard are grandparents who have taught the Bible for over 20 years to children in Faith Church Sunday School and also to youth in Bible Study Fellowship classes. Sheila Bareiss is mother to both a teenage and a young adult daughter. She has server as Associate Teaching Director at Community Bible Study in Rochester and has also led other local women's ministries and mentoring programs. Andrew and Heidi Morris are the parents of two young children. The have a vast array of experience including raising one child special needs, being young parents and growing up in blended and large families. They have a passion for serving the Lord in youth group and also leading adult small groups.
Title: Foundations of Faith
Location: Room 203
Synopsis: Living in the Gap Between Promise and Reality - Abraham was promised great things by God and lived in light of those promises even when the answers were not immediately forthcoming. His preparation, test, stumbles, and faith are applicable to our lives. This study of Abraham shoes him to be not just an isolated Old Testament character, but an important figure on the Biblical road that leads to Jesus Christ. Both his individual life as well as his part in that overarching story of the Bible will be considered in this class. Each week;s lesson stands on its own, so you will be able to engage in and also enjoy the discussion even if you're not able to regularly attend the class. We also believe morning snacks help us to thing and fellowship joyously, so, we server food! Combine that with the coffee from upstairs and it's a good way to spend the 'other' hour.
Team Taught By: Nancy Kubinski (member of Faith Church for over 20 years), Tom Austin (member and active Elder), Geoff Skelton (member and active Elder, and James Mangiapane (member of Faith Church).
HOMEFRONT - Midweek Family Bible Study
Our evening begins at 6PM with a family dinner, followed at 6:45PM with worship music in the Sanctuary. Classes for all ages begin at 7PM.
Adult Education
Title: Bearing Fruit in God's Family
Location: Room 201
Number of Sessions: 11-week series
Synopsis: When a tree takes root, adds strength, and branches out, it is not long before fruit appears. And so it is with you. As you choose to root your life in Christ, you'll not only become strong, but also more fruitful. By walking your through a simple, yet effective, approach to explaining the gospel to your friends and neighbors, this study will help you become a fruitful member of God's family. At the same time, you'll also learn to naturally reflect Christ's character in your everyday life. With its biblical and practical approach to discipleship, this study will help you: openly identify with Christ; learn to effectively meditate on scriptures; and renew your concern for non-Christian friends.
Who would like this class: Seasoned Christians and those new to Christianity who want to lean how to share their faith with others and strengthen their walk with God.
Teacher Bios: Geoff Skelton - married to Louise with three children (Amy - 23, David - 17, and Nicholas, 11), employed by TRW Automotive as a mechanical engineer (BASc University of Waterloo, 1985). Elder at Faith Church for three years and have attended here for 14 years. I enjoy camping, canoing, and reading. Born outside of Montreal, I have yet to be weaned of my affection for the Canadians. I became a US Citizen two years ago along with my wife (finally!).
Title: Esther - "It's tough being a woman" (written by Beth Moore)
Number of Sessions: 11-week series
Location: Room 209
Synopsis: An in-depth study of the Old Testament book of Esther. Includes: weekly DVD sessions to be watched together along with five days of personal study each week. This study brings history to life with helpful application to our lives.
Who would like this class: Any adult woman who wants to grow towards a more disciplined and life changing walk with God.
Teacher Bio: Heidi Morris is a mom of two kids whose life has been changed by participating in Beth Moor's studies. Shes has led two groups in her studies so far and has seen many women's lives changed through God using this ministry. Heidi enjoys running, recycling, and coffee!
Title: The Westminster Confession of Faith
Location: Room 203
Synopsis: Wait! Don't stop reading! I know what you're thinking! Why would I come to a class on Wednesday night to study the Westminster Confession of Faith? I can find other ways to be bored without even leaving my house. And it is true that a class that is studying the Westminster Confession of Faith sounds like it could be really boring. But, I'll guarantee you, it's not! We won't argue or fight, but I guarantee you that there will be some lively discussions on what the Bible teaches on a whole variety of subjects. And you will learn some very valuable truths about what the Bible says, some that may shock you, even if you have read the Bible from cover to cover.
Who would like this class: If you are new to your faith, this class is the place for you. If you are mature in your faith, but are interested in growing, this class is the place for you. That should just about cover everyone.
Teacher Bio: Pastor Jerry Brundle has been teaching adult education classes in churches for over 15 years. He earned his MDIV at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, with emphases on Bible and Theology. His teaching style tends to be more lecture than Socratic, but enjoys lively discussion in class. Elder Tom Austin has served as one of the instructors at the Sunday morning class on the Westminster Confession of Faith. This class has been one of our most successful and enduring classes, as those who participate have found the class not only very interesting, but instructive and though-provoking as well.
